I hear you. I'm 73. The losses continue. But, so does the desert, the spring, skating on the pond.. love.. puppies.

I loved reading this, weirdly made me feel better.

The hair loss might be a thyroid issue. At least that was my experience. I was encouraged by my hair cutting person to see a doctor about it.

Not at all to diminish the awfulness of it all. But for now there are still these things I mentioned. And the energy to make change has to be stoked somehow

Carrot you should consider San Felipe Baja Mexico for your piece of sand. I’ve spent winter months here for more than a decade. Summer in remote Montana. For $25K you can have a small casita near the sea. Love your work and would be happy to give you more info. Kick back fishing village 2 hrs from the border. Not the tourist scene at all.

I feel everything you wrote here, so much. But I wanted to echo what others suggested about getting your thyroid levels checked. You can order your own labs fairly cheaply through HealthLabs.com. I’ve been doing this because I pay even less than going through my endocrinologist/health insurance. Hair loss, frequently becoming sick, and more nebulous issues such as depression are common symptoms when thyroid hormones fall off balance.

And I too loved reading this. Your writing never fails to help me feel less alone in the world.

I, too, hear you. I let the world situation impact me and use my twice weekly trips to the Santa Rita’s and Wrightson Wilderness to set all those worries aside. My safe place.

Sounds like the beginnings of perimenopause. I'm 70 so I've been through it all, insomnia, hot flashes, hair falling out, and chronic fatigue which I believe my traumatic childhood set me up for. Due to a lifetime of being hypervigilant, some pretty critical brain chemicals failed me in perimenopause. I wish I knew at 40 what I know now. Please find yourself a very good Naturopath. I had 21 years of CFS before I was cured by my wonderful naturopath here in Missoula. She literally saved my life. If only I had found her years earlier. Also know that you've got many great years ahead of you. The past few years have been some of the best in my life.

You might want to get your thyroid checked out, hair loss can be related to this.
